The benevolent Lord Siva so as to liberate  the entire living being has incarnated  himself in many holy Shrines in the so  called Middle Country. (Nadu Naadu).  Vriddhachalam (means age old holy hill)  is the best among such holy shrines.  Two Mile west of this, there is a small  village namely Manavalanallur. Where there  is abundance of flowery trees bristling  with humming of birds and insects.   It is known as Manavalanallur because  Lord Skantha, the Manavalan (Eternal  Bridegroom) has embodied himself  here. In the words of Arunagirinathar.   “He is the Manavalan residing in the monkeys  inhabited hill”. LOCATE TEMPLE: Large number of Transport facilities are available to Kolanchiappar Temple which is situated at Manavallanallur Village near by Viridhachalam Town . Buses are available in large scale to Vriddhachalam from Chennai, Villupuram, Thiruvannamalai, Salem, Attur, Kallakurichi, Cuddalore, Neyveli, Chidambaram, Kumbakonam, Jayankondam, Trichy and Perampalur etc.,  There are two Railway Stations at Vriddhachalam. One is Main Junction and another one Virudhachalam Town Station. All the Express  and Super Fast Express Trains from Chennai to Madurai, Trichy, Tirunelveli, Tuticorin, Kanyakumari and Quilon pass through Vriddhachalam and stop at Vriddhachalam Junction. Reservation facilities are also available at Vriddhachalam for all trains. Apart from this trains shuttering along Salem - Cuddalore Meter guage  track also stop here.Lodging facilities have been arranged for devotees visiting this temple with 21 rooms in cheaper rent. And there is a Temple Guest House with  six rooms. Guest houses are maintained by PWD and Highways in Temple site  and  also  in Vriddhachalam Town.  Apart from these there are many Private lodges  and  Hotels  are available in Vriddhachalam Town .
